Governance
UNVTD is developed as an open project under UN/CEFACT , the United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business. Work is conducted transparently, in the open, and is free for anyone to use, implement, and contribute to.
Terms of Reference
The project delivers a suite of lightweight, digitally verifiable trade-document specifications aligned with the UN/CEFACT technology architecture strategy, with complete coverage of the ICC-DSI KTDDE document set as its success criterion. It operates within the UN/CEFACT programme of work and follows UN/CEFACT’s open-development and intellectual property policies. The full scope and rationale are set out in the project proposal .
Participation
Participation is open. Contributors take part through the project’s regular meetings and its GitLab repository — proposing changes, reviewing schemas, and raising issues.
- Join & Contribute — how to get involved.
- Meetings — schedule, agendas, and minutes.
- Partnerships — the organisations we work with.
Decision Making
Decisions are taken by rough consensus among active participants, in line with UN/CEFACT process. Schema and specification changes are proposed and reviewed in the open via the repository, discussed in project meetings, and adopted when consensus is reached. Progress and adoption are tracked in Metrics & Impact.
